Town of Trade Lake, Wisconsin. (Greg Seitz/St. Croix 360)

For years, thousands of people have been forced to live with the effects of huge factory farms as the industry expands across rural Wisconsin. Contaminated air and water, torn up roads and shrinking home values have brought people from all walks of life together to protect our health and property rights.

Local Wisconsin communities have joined forces to pass moratoriums, referendums and ordinances that counter the harmful effects of massive factory farms and factory farm gas.

In response, factory farm lobbyists in Madison are now plotting to have state legislators preempt all local control over their huge livestock operations.

GrassRoots Organizing Western Wisconsin (GROWW) and Sustain Rural Wisconsin Network (SRWN) are pushing back by connecting rural communities directly with the Madison leaders deciding your future. Our leaders need to know about local resistance to factory farms and factory farm gas.

We want to work with you over the next few month to:

  • Bring your stories directly to Madison leaders.
  • Educate leaders about local resistance to factory farms and factory farm gas.
  • Defend local operations ordinances.

Learn more about how you can bring the voice of rural Wisconsin to Madison and protect local control by participating in SRWN 2025 Legislative Agenda Webinars.
