A man is safe and sound and back on solid ground after an unintentional ride down the river on an ice floe. Local fire and police departments retrieved the unidentified Lakeland man Tuesday about 1 p.m.
The man was reportedly climbing on the ice in Hudson when a chunk broke loose. Several people called 911, reporting seeing the man about 200 yards south of the Interstate 94 bridge.
According to the Star Tribune, the man did not seem distressed by his situation.
In a report from KSTP, Washington County Sheriff William Hutton used the occasion to warn people to stay off the ice, which is no longer safe.
